MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State outscored Nevada 21-0 in the 4th quarter and ran away with its third-straight win Saturday.

"What a win," said Head Coach Chris Klieman. "We challenged the guys early in the week, that we needed to take the next step as a football team. We were prepared for it. We kind of were built for this. We knew the non-con schedule was going to be extremely difficult. We knew adversity had struck, losing Skylar, and we challenged the guys to rise up."

Running back Deuce Vaughn ran for 127 yards, his fifth-straight game over the century mark dating back to last season, and also tallied 1,000 career rushing yards, becoming the fifth-fastest player in K-State history to reach that milestone.

"That's pretty big," said Vaughn postgame of his 1,000 yard milestone. "That's actually crazy. I'm just now learning that, but that's just a testament to my O-Line and everybody up front man, today and dating back to last year, man I love those boys."

The Wildcat offensive line commanded the front lines Saturday, allowing the Wildcat offense to total 269 rushing yards on 48 carries, a mark that will make just about any coach smile.

Chris Klieman commended his front line's effort, "We challenged those guys from the start of the week to every drive," he said. "When it was 17-17, we ended up having a big-time drive, eight plays, 75 yards to go up 24-17 and it couldn't be a field goal there. We needed a touchdown. That set the tone."

Kansas State's defense did their fair share as well, holding prospective first round draft pick Carson Strong to just one touchdown pass and shutting out the Wolf Pack in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Kansas State improves to 3-0 and will now turn its attention to Big 12 play and its first true road contest of the season at Oklahoma State next week.
