SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect after a chase that started in a highway construction zone.
Just after 3a.m. October 12, a deputy sheriff attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red 2012 Buick Verano that disregarded closed roadways due to construction near SE 29th Street and SE Adams Street, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
The driver, later identified as 20-year-old Beau D. Belisle, refused to stop and initiated a pursuit. The deputy terminated the pursuit near SE 29th Street and SE Wisconsin Avenue due to safety concerns.
Deputies continued to search the area and located the abandoned vehicle with the driver walking nearby.>>
The took Belisle into custody and booked him into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, Speeding, Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Reckless driving, Unsafe turning or stopping, Unlawful to drive in closed roadway, Possession of marijuana, Ignition interlock device and Interference with law enforcement.
