TOPEKA —On Friday, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly joined Adjutant General Michael Venerdi to celebrate his promotion to major general. "His remarkable career has been marked by extraordinary dedication, insight, and loyalty to both Kansas and our nation." Kelly wrote on her social media account.
Kansas U.S. Senator Jerry Moran spoke at the promotion ceremony. "Gen. Venerdi has served in the military for over 30 years. "Congratulations on this accomplishment and thank you for your service to Kansas and our country."
In April of 2023, the Kansas Senate unanimously confirmation of Venerdi to serve as the Adjutant General of Kansas. He is a graduate of the United State's Air Force Academy and flew combat missions in Afghanistan.
Prior to his appointment and confirmation as the 38th Adjutant General of Kansas, Venerdi served as the Director of the Joint Staff, Kansas National Guard at the Joint Force Headquarters in Topeka. He previously served as Commander of the 184th Wing at McConnell Air Force Base.
