SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a woman for alleged animal cruelty in connection with the hot car death of 2 dogs.
On May 14, the Saline County Sheriff's office took a report of 2 deceased, possibly pit bulls, dumped in the 800 Block of North Fairchilds, according to Salina Police Captain James Feldman. The Salina police department then received information the dogs had been left in a vehicle in the 1400 block of W. Cloud around the beginning of May.
It was believed the dogs succumbed due to heat from being in the vehicle and then their bodies were dumped in the county.
An investigation identified the dogs being in the care of 20-year-old ShaQuilla Weaver of Fort Worth, Texas, according to Feldman. Warrants were requested and issued for her arrest.
On Wednesday, deputies arrested Weaver on the warrant. She is being held on requested charges that include Cruelty to animals; Knowingly kill/injure and Criminal littering; Public property, according to online jail records.
