TOPEKA, Kan. - The Junction City Blue Jays came from behind to defeat the Topeka Seaman Vikings on Friday night, winning 23-26 in overtime.

Both defenses played outstanding football, holding two high-powered offenses well below their respective season averages. The Vikings held Junction City scoreless in the first half, but could just muster three short field goals on their own. The Vikings led 9-0 at the break.

In the second half, Junction City's offense would find life with an Aidan Field field goal to get within 9-3. The Blue Jays would then tie the game with a touchdown run and miss the ensuing extra point.

From there, the two teams would trade touchdowns late in the fourth quarter and head to the extra period knotted at 16.

Junction City would get the ball first and score on a 3-yard David Rowell touchdown run to take its first lead of the game at 23-16. The first play of Seaman's offensive series would end the contest as pressure in the backfield would cause a fumble recovered by the JCHS defense.

The Blue Jays improved to 2-1 on the season and will now return home to open its brand new football stadium in its home opener against Washburn Rural Friday, September 24th at 7 p.m.
