FORD COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 6:30a.m. Wednesday in Ford County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Freightliner semi driven by Alexis Serrano, 29, Hesperia, California, was eastbound in the westbound lanes of U.S. 54 five miles west of Kingsdown. The Freightliner and a westbound 2006 Peterbilt semi drven by Pedro Ariel Torres, 52, Liberal, collided in the westbound lane.
Torres was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS transported Serrano to Wesley Medical Center. Torres was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
