KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement investigating a deadly mass shooting in Kansas City have identified the man who died as 31-year-oldDyamund Shields, 31, according to Kansas City Police.
Just after 2a.m. Monday, police on patrol near 70th St. and Gregory Boulevard in Kansas City heard gunshots, according to Sheriff Daryl Forte'.
A gunshot victim contacted the officers and was rushed to a nearby hospital. First responders found another shooting victim a short distance away who was pronounced deceased, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
Investigators determined a large gathering turned violent following an argument between people in attendance. Several people engaged in gunfire, leaving behind dozens of bullet casings lying in the street.
Police have not reported how many people in total were there at the gathering, how many people had guns, and how many people fired shots.
No kids were present and involved.
EMS and private vehicles transported six to area hospitals, according to Gonzalez. She did not have details on the extent or type of injuries.
Police did not have anyone in custody and have not reported suspect information.
