KANSAS CITY —One person died in an accident that occurred just before 1a.m. Sunday in Kansas City.
A Ford Fusion was stopped at the red traffic signal, from northbound U.S. 169 Highway exit ramp at Barry Road, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
As the light turned green, the car moved forward. An eastbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling at a very high rate of speed, according to Becchina, failed to stop at the red traffic signal. The motorcycle struck the left side of the car. The motorcycle rider was ejected over the top of the car.
EMS transported the rider to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. He died a few hours later, according to Becchina. The driver and passenger in the car were not injured. The name of the motorcycle rider has not been released. He was not wearing a helmet, according to Becchina.
