Candidates were asked to limit their responses to each of the following questions to 200 words or less.

NAME:   Darci Pottroff
AGE:  61
OCCUPATION:  Director of Application Services, Kansas State University
INCUMBENT:  yes, by way of departure of previous mayor
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: member of Riley Pride and will be actively involved in the City of Riley Community Building committe, as well as in the new foundation being established, the Rural Riley County Community Foundation. Also very supportive of kids who are doing fund raisers.

-Why have you decided to run for a position on the City Council/Mayor? If you are an incumbent, why did you decide to run for re-election? I became mayor after the previous mayor moved from the city of Riley to the country. As the council president, I became the new mayor. I chose to run for mayor because I do not feel I am done with the initiatives that have been started.

-What experience/background do you have that would make you a good city council member/mayor? If you are an incumbent, what experience/background has made you a good city council member/mayor? I have held 2 positions on city council, beginning in 2015, then this year as mayor. In my opinion, what it takes to be a good council member/mayor is caring about the city, wanting to be a part of change happening, and simply being interested in what is happening locally.

-What are the top three issues you believe the city will face during your term, if elected/re-elected? Issues/opportunities include risk reduction and getting the municipal court started, working with the newly formed foundation for city betterment, and listening to community members and doing what we can to help the city prosper.

-What is the number one issue you plan to tackle, if elected/re-elected? Risk reduction around the city by enforcing/following our ordinances.

-Is there something you would like to see change about any city ordinance or program? We will continue to review and address any ordinance and/or program as we see the need.
