KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating a weekend homicide in Kansas.
Just after 4p.m. Saturday, police responded to report of shots fired into a vehicle in 300 block of Maple Boulevard, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina. The vehicle fled the scene of the shooting.
Moments later, officers responded to Smart and Bales Avenue on reports of a shooting and first responders located the two men who had been shot, according to Sheriff Daryl Forte'.
One victim was located unresponsive in the vehicle. He was identified as 22-year-old David C. Crowell, according to Becchina. Crowell was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was outside the vehicle. EMS transported him to a local hospital.
Detectives have made progress identifying subjects of interest and will be subsequently working with prosecutors to share investigative findings for any charges determination, according Becchina.
