KANSAS CITY—A suspect is in custody after a violent incident inside a Kansas City hospital.
Just after 9p.m. Friday, police responded to a report of gunshots fired inside St. Luke's hospital, 4401 Wornall Road, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
Security was notified of a subject who entered the hospital and assaulted a staff member. When attempting to take him into custody, the suspect produced a handgun and fired off a shot.
The suspect was placed in handcuffs until police arrived on scene. There were no injuries as a result of the shot being fired, according to Gonzalez. Police did not release the name of the suspect.
An arrest was made after one man walked into a Kansas City hospital, assaulted a healthcare worker and then fired a gun.
Just after 9p.m. on Friday, emergency crews were called to St. Luke’s Hospital at 4401 Wornall Road with reports of shots fired inside the hospital.
First responders indicated that security was told about an individual who entered the hospital and assaulted a staff member. When they attempted to take him into custody, the man pulled out a handgun and fired a single shot.
KCPD said the man was put in handcuffs until officers arrived. No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting. No further information has been released.
