Sheriff deputies and Rural Fire District 3 immediately responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The residents were outside of the mobile home when the fire occurred.

Before the fire, the residents of the home 'had placed food on a barbecue grill in their backyard.' The residents then left the grill unattended for about 2 minutes and smelled a burning scent coming from the grill. When they came to check on it, the grill was in flames.

The fire from the grill then went towards the home and completely consumed it.

The residents were identified as Brian Bell, 49, Lisa Bell, 47, and two teenage boys. Brian Bell received 1st degree burns to his forehead and was treated and released by Salina EMS, according to Soldan.

A cat that belonged to the residents went missing after the fire. No loss of value was determined at this time.
