EMPORIA – Kansas Wesleyan women's outdoor track opened its season on Friday and Saturday at the ESU Relays at the Zola Witten Track at Francis G. Welch Stadium on the Emporia State campus with some outstanding performances.
Josie Koppes (SO/Manhattan, Kan.) placed 16th in the 5000m. Koppes nearly recorded her first sub 19-minute race, finishing with a time 19:01.63.
In Friday night's Hammer Throw Open, Elizabeth Stout (FR/Holden, Mo.) placed 12th in the event with a mark of 36.91m. Jaci Carter (FR/Beloit, Kan.) placed 15th with a mark of 35.75m and Brooklyn Sloane (FR/Hill City, Kan.) placed 21st with a mark of 31.32m.
In the 800, Joni Schroeder (FR/Salina, Kan.) led a quartet of Coyote finishers with a 14th place finish in 2:30.34. Alayna Behrman (SO/Craig, Colo.) placed 28th with a 2:40.26, Daniella Gaona (JR/Clifton, Texas) placed 39th in 2:50.98 and Regan Rhodes (SR/Mullinville, Kan.) placed 41st in 2:53.37.
In Saturday's Invitational Shot Put event, Elizabeth Stout placed 18th with a mark of 11.21m and Nicole Holaday (SR/Gove, Kan.) placed 20th with a mark of 10.68m.
In the discus, Saffron Jacobs (JR/Johannesburg, South Africa) placed 19th in the discus with a mark of 36.71m and Jaci Carter placed 44th with a mark of 30.65m.
Grayce Tankersley (FR/Hillsboro, Kan.) placed 23rd in the long jump with a mark of 4.57m.
In Friday's Invitational Hammer Throw, Nicole Holaday placed 23rd with a mark of 39.39m.
In the javelin, Brooklyn Sloane placed 29th with a mark of 31.52m.
In the 1500m, Alayna Behrman placed 30th with a time of 5:31.38. Charlee Lind (FR/Wamego, Kan.) was 33rd in 5:36.36, Daniella Gaona placed 36th in 5:51.24 and Regan Rhodes was 37th in 5:59.59.
In the 400m, Grace Pearson (FR/Cypress, Texas) placed 34th with a time of 63.12, and Grayce Tankersley placed 42nd with a 67.28.
Bailey Mann (SO/Ferris, Texas) placed 66th in the 200m with a time of 27.96 seconds.
