SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a shooting have shot and killed a dog.Just after 5:30 a.m. Friday, police&nbsp;were dispatched to a Topeka hospital for a male victim who had arrived with a non-life threating gunshot injury, according to Lt. Manual Munoz.Officers determined that the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute that had taken place at 103 SE Market in Topeka.&nbsp; Officers went to the address on SE Market for further investigation.Once officers arrived at the residence, officers at the front of the case address observed a window that was wide open. As other officers were going to the rear of the residence, a dog jumped out the window that was open. The dog charged and bit one of the officers, according to Munoz.As a result, the officer discharged his department issued firearm, striking the dog. The dog died at the scene.The officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment of for his injuries.Police released no additional details Friday afternoon.
