SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a shooting and asking the public for help with information.
Just before 1a.m. Thursday, police responded to a shooting in a parking lot in the 900 Block of West Central in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.
At the scene, officers located a 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his body. EMS transported him to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, police determined the 19-year-old and a friend were in the small parking area on the north side of The Keeper of the Plains when a disturbance occurred with a male suspect, according to Davidson.
The suspect pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots which struck the victim and also a vehicle owned by the victim's friend.
The victim also reported the suspect took property from him and then fled with other individuals who were in the area. During the investigation, police also recovered multiple shell casings.
Authorities do not believe this is a random incident, according to Davidson.
