1 dead, teen injured after 2-vehicle crash on Kansas highway

CRAWFORD COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 1p.m. Saturday in Crawford County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2001 Ford F150 driven by  Leroy Edward Nutt, 71, Mindenmines, Missouri, was eastbound on East 570th Avenue of Kansas 126 Highway.

The driver failed to stop at the stop sign at the 200th Street intersection. The Ford struck a northbound 2017 Chrysler 300 driven by Rigby James Born, 19, Gerard, Kansas.  Both vehicles came to rest at the Northeast corner of the intersection in the ditch.

Nutt was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Frontier Forensics. EMS transported Born to Freeman West in Joplin. Nutt was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
