SEDGWICK COUNTY - A man arrested in Mexico for the murder of two people in January 2020 at the Hotel at WaterWalk in Wichita was scheduled for sentencing Tuesday. For the second consecutive week, the hearing was continued, according to the Sedgwick County District attorney's office.

In October, 37-year-old Kyle Young plead guilty to the murder of 27-year-old George Kirksey and 22-year-old Alicia Roman, according to the district attorney's office.

In the early morning of January 2, 2020, police responded to a shooting call at the Hotel at WaterWalk in the 700 block of South Main, in Wichita, according to officer Kevin Wheeler.

Upon arrival, officers located the bodies of Kirksey and Roman with multiple gunshot wounds, according to officer Kevin Wheeler.

The investigation revealed that Kirksey and Roman were inside of the hotel room when a suspect identified as  Young entered the room and fired multiple shots, striking them and then fleeing on foot.

Investigators learned of Young's involvement and six months later located him in Mexico and made an arrest, according to Wheeler.
