FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect in connection with several hit and run accidents in Finney County.
Just before 12:30a.m. Sunday, sheriff' deputies observed a hit and run accident in the 1700 Block of North Taylor in Garden City where an electronic crosswalk sign was destroyed, according to a media release.
A short time later, police were notified of an other hit and run in the 1800 Block of West Campbell in Garden City where a utility pole was damaged.
Sheriff's deputies and police worked together and located a suspect identified as 34-year-old Zachary Roth at his residence. They took him into custody in connection with both accidents. He was jailed on requested charges of DUI and failure to report an accident. Roth was not injured. The damage to the cross walk sign and utility pole is estimated at $25,000, according to Garden City Police.
