
SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating the death of a wanted homicide suspect in Topeka.
Just after 11:30p.m. Tuesday, police were notified that an individual wanted in connection to a homicide in Oklahoma City was in Topeka, according to police spokesman Daniel Garrett.
Officers went to the 1200 block of SW. Orleans to take the individual, identified as 51-year-old Carlos Slaughter, into custody.
Upon police arrival, Slaughter barricaded himself inside a home. Around 4:00 a.m., Topeka Police entered the home, to find Slaughter deceased. Topeka Police is investigating this death as a possible suicide.
The lead agency for this investigation is Oklahoma City Police Department, with the FBI and Topeka Police assisting. Police released no additional details Wednesday afternoon.
