KANSAS CITY—One person died in a three vehicle accident just before 11p.m. Monday in Kansas City.
A Kawasaki motorcycle was southbound on Interstate 435 at Bannister Road at a very high rate of speed, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
The driver lost control of the motorcycle when the Kawasaki struck the right rear corner of a Ford Edge. The Kawasaki driver was ejected from the motorcycle. He struck the guard rail on the west side of the highway, just prior to Bannister Road and was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was not wearing a helmet, according to DiMartino. As the Kawasaki motorcycle was coming to rest on the highway, a Toyota Sienna struck the Kawasaki. The driver of the Ford Edge was not injured. The driver and passenger in the Toyota Sienna had minor injuries and refused EMS. All southbound lanes were closed for approximately three hours.
Police have not released the name of the victim.
