Man who allegedly threatened Wichita mayor faces a judge

SEDGWICK COUNTY—A suspect accused of making a threat against the Mayor of Wichita made his first court appearance in the case Thursday. 

Griffin K. Cornejo, 50, Wichita, was charged with two counts of criminal threat, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

On Monday, police confirmed the alleged threat. "We are aware of the threats made against Mayor Lily Wu. Our investigators have been in contact with the Mayor and police are working closely with the mayor and her staff.”

According to the Sedgwick County booking report  Cornejo was arrested at 1021 West 31st S in Wichita and booked into jail just before 8pm. Monday. He remains jailed on a $50,000.00 bond, according to online jail records.
