
KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just after 8:30a.m. Saturday in Kansas City.
Preliminary investigation indicates a black Hyundai with a flat tire was stopped in lane one without hazard lights activated on Interstate 70 westbound near the Walnut exit, according to KCPD Officer Alyana Gonzalez. A tractor-trailer traveling in lane two merged into lane one to pass another tractor-trailer and subsequently struck the rear of the stopped Hyundai, causing significant rear-end damage.
The driver of the Hyundai was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The accident remains under investigation, according to Gonzalez. This is fatality #10 in KCMO for 2026.
