
Kenwood Cove Aquatic Park in Salina has closed temporarily.
According to the City of Salina Parks and Rec Department, this action was announced Wednesday following a hazardous materials (hazmat) incident identified within the facility. The park just opened for the summer on Tuesday.
The department stated, out of an abundance of caution and to protect the health and safety of guests and staff, the waterpark will be closed while appropriate emergency response protocols, environmental assessments, and remediation procedures are completed.
Local emergency responders are actively working to assess the situation and ensure the facility is safe before reopening.
At this time:
· The facility is closed to all guests and staff until further notice.
· All scheduled programs and public swim at the waterpark are canceled until the facility is safe to reopen.
· Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
It is anticipated the water park will open on the morning of Thursday, May 28 for water walking.
