SEDGWICK COUNTY— Law enforcement continue the investigation into the death of 30-year-old Ian Alexander Shelton, whose body was recovered from Lake Afton earlier this year.

The Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center filed its final autopsy report March 19, in Sedgwick County District Court.
The report confirms Shelton’s cause of death as drowning, and the manner of death has been ruled an accident, according to Sheriff's Department spokesman Branden Stitt.
Despite the manner of death being ruled an accident, the Sheriff’s Office is continuing to carefully review the circumstances surrounding Shelton’s disappearance and death. Detectives are working to ensure all details have been thoroughly examined. Once that work is complete, the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for review.
Shelton was last seen on December 2. On January 10, a deputy patrolling Lake Afton Park was contacted by an individual who reported an unidentified object floating in the water near the dam on the south side of the lake, according to Stitt. Deputies were unable to identify the object.
Because of the ongoing missing person investigation involving Shelton and Lake Afton, additional resources were requested.
Fire District 1 deployed a boat, and firefighters recovered a body from the water. The remains were identified as those of an adult male.
On January 12, the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center positively identified the remains as those of Ian Alexander Shelton,
