SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect in connection with an alleged violent crime.
Just after 11 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 1100 block of SW Medford Avenue in Topeka, according to Police Lt. Michael Hren.
It was reported that a man who was experiencing a mental health crisis was acting erratically.
Police responded and made every attempt to make contact with the suspect later identified as 24-year-old Lucas Martin, but he refused to exit the home.
Around 2:45 p.m., police left the scene. No injuries were reported from the incident. Around 3:30 p.m., police received the report that Martin had battered someone who is known to him and was walking in the area.
Officers responded and took the suspect into custody. As a result of the investigation Martin was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Domestic battery; Knowing rude physical contact w/ family member or dating relationship.
