HARVEY COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating after a woman was shot in Newton.
Just before 2a.m. Friday, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of Terrace Drive in Newton, according to a media release from from police.
A man at the house reported his 74-year-old wife had been shot and refused to answer any further questions.
EMS transported the victim to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with life-threatening injuries. Police arrested her husband identified as 70-year-old Edward Altum. He is being held in the Harvey County Jail on a requested charge of attempted murder. Police also recovered gun at the scene.
