MANHATTAN – K-State sophomores Serena Sundell and Brylee Glenn have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District VII team. This is the first such honor for both student-athletes.
As a program, K-State women’s basketball has earned 27 (formerly CoSIDA) CSC Academic All-District VII citations by 17 student-athletes.
As Academic All-District selections, Sundell and Glenn advance to the CSC Academic All-America Team selection process, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in mid-March.
Sundell, a guard from Maryville, Missouri, is a business management major who has garnered 2021-22 Big 12 Academic All-Rookie Team honors and is a three-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient.
On the floor, Sundell is averaging a career-high 12.5 points on a career-best .447 field goal percentage. She has also established career season-highs for free throws made and attempted (119-of-148), rebounds (131) and steals (43). Sundell’s total of 119 free throws made this season rank tied for 10th in school history for a single season. Her 137 assists rank 26th in the nation and are the fourth-most in a sophomore season in school history.
She is the third player in program history to reach 300 or more career assists by the conclusion of their sophomore season, joining Shalee Lehning (368) and Megan Mahoney (321). Sundell and Mahoney are the only two players in school history with 600 or more points and 300 or more assists by the end of their sophomore season.
A guard from Kansas City, Missouri, Glenn is a business management major who has earned 2021-22 Big 12 Academic All-Rookie Team honors and is a three-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient.
In the arena, Glenn is averaging a career-high 9.4 points, 3.0 rebounds per game and 1.8 steals. She has established new career-highs for assists (45) and steals (48) and has equaled her career-best in free throws made (56).
