KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities have a person of interest in custody after a 9-hour standoff at a Kansas City home.
Just after 9:30p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to report of a shooting at a home in the the 500 block of Booth Street, according to Sheriff Daryl Forte'.
At the scene, officers spoke the the caller in front of the house who warned there was a woman inside the home who had been shot. In addition, there was possibly someone still inside the home who had been involved in the shooting.
First responders could see a woman on the floor inside the home.
Police went inside and removed the woman, while also surrounding the home to prevent any suspect from an escape. EMS transported the shooting victim identified as 54-year-old DL O’Hara to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
KCPD issued an Operation 100 to bring additional tactical officers to the scene. Just after 6a.m. Wednesday, nine hours after the initial call, police took a person of interest into custody. There were not other injuries. Police have not released the name of the suspect or additional details.
