WILSON COUNTY —Two people died in an accident just after 6:30a.m. Wednesday in Wilson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Donald J. Christeson, 76, Liberty, Kansas, was westbound on U.S. 400 a mile and one half south of Kansas 47 highway.
The car struck the trailer axel on a southbound 2000 Freightliner semi driven by 74-year-old Carl J. Studebaker of Fredonia, who made a left turn onto eastbound U.S. 400 from Jewell Road and failed to yield, according to the KHP.
Christeson and a passenger in the car identified as Teresa J. Mansfield, 61, Independence, Kansas, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Studebaker was not injured. All three were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
