NEOSHO COUNTY —Several schools in southeast Kansas received threats last week, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
The Chanute Police Department and USD 413, with the assistance of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, Allen County Sheriff’s Office took a juvenile suspect into custody in connection with a social media threat made against the schools in Chanute, according to a statement from the police department.
Upon completion of the investigation reports will be forwarded to Neosho County Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of charges being filed.
Police reminded, "If you see or hear a threat, or have any school safety concern, please don’t hesitate to report it to law enforcement."
"Threats against schools, even false threats, are not a joke. They are crimes that can have severe consequences."
