SHAWNEE COUNTY— Law enforcement authorities are investigating an aggravated assault that sent one man to the hospital.
Just after 8:30 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to a call in the 2300 block of SW Buchanan in Topeka, according to Lt. Ron Ekis.
The investigation revealed several individuals were involved in a disturbance in which on man had been struck by a machete requiring medical attention.
During this disturbance, an unknown person fired gunshots striking a car at the same location. No persons were injured from the gunfire.
A private vehicle transported the man who was struck with the machete to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.
Police released no additional details Sunday and have not reported an arrest.
