KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just before midnight on Tuesday in Kansas City.
A Ford Focus was northbound at 11725 Grandview Road in Kansas City, according to KDPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
The car traveled off the roadway to the right, struck a raised sewer cover located in front of a business. After impact, the vehicle then traveled westbound across the roadway into an empty parking lot and caught fire.
The driver and sole occupant of the Ford was pronounced deceased at the scene. The accident remains under investigation. The name of the driver has not been released.
This is fatality #69 compared to #65 in Kansas City, Missouri at this time last year, according to DiMartino.
