LINDSBORG – Kansas Wesleyan men's tennis picked up a 6-1 win over the Bethany Swedes on Thursday at the Lindquist Tennis Center.
The win pushed Wesleyan's record over .500 overall at 7-6 and improved KWU's KCAC record to 5-1.
It's the second straight win for the Coyotes over the Swedes in the series between the teams. KWU has won three of the last four meetings between the teams.
The Coyotes swept the doubles matches to win the doubles point. Bryce Ware (SO/Amarillo, Texas) and Garrison Wright (SO/Maize, Kan.) bet Franco Hernandez Colman and Daniel Lozano Machado 6-1; Alex Sherer (SO/Rossville, Kan.) and Gavin Chavez (FR/Topeka, Kan.) beat Zeke Mumford and Matt Lucas 6-2; and Luke Craft (SO/Manhattan, Kan.) and Adam Hanson (FR/Edmond, Okla.) beat Carlos Manuel Rodriguez Rivas and Cayden Danzer 6-1.
In singles, KWU won five of the six flights to secure the match win.
Ware beat Hernandez Colman 6-1, 6-0; Sherer beat Mumford 6-3, 6-0; Adam Hanson beat Rodriguez Rivas 6-0, 6-2; Collin Phelps (FR/Salina, Kan.) beat Lucas 6-2, 6-4; and Jack Hanson (FR/Edmond, Okla.) beat Alejandro Rico Moran 7-5, 6-0.
Bethany got its only win of the match as Lozano Machado beat Wright 6-4, 7-6.
The Coyotes have a pair of key road matches coming up, heading to Winfield on Saturday to take on Southwestern, and then in Hillsboro against Tabor next Thursday.
