Red Flag Warning is in effect Thursday

The national Weather Service said that a RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THURSDAY TO 8 PM CDT THURSDAY EVENING FOR LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, STRONG GUSTY WINDS, AND DRY FUELS FOR AREAS ALONG AND WEST OF THE KANSAS TURNPIKE...

* AFFECTED AREA.. Republic,  Washington, Marshall,Nemaha, Brown,  Cloud, Clay, Riley, Pottawatomie, Jackson, Ottawa, Dickinson, Geary, Morris,  Wabaunsee, Shawnee and Lyon.

* TIMING...From 11 AM Thursday morning to 8 PM CDT Thursday evening.

* WINDS...Southwest winds increasing to 15 to 20 mph gusting 20 to 30 mph...then becoming north northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 24 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Up to 95 degrees F.

* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread  quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended
