KU football player charged in connection with alleged bomb threat

LAWRENCE —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect in connection with a bomb threat on the University of Kansas campus.

Just after 3p.m Monday, University of Kansas Police responded to bomb threat made against KU Football facilities, according to a statement from interim Deputy Chief Damon Tucker.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Anderson Family Football Complex, Beatty Family Pavilion and David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium were evacuated and checked by law enforcement officers.  

Investigators found no devices and police issued an all-clear at approximately 8 p.m.. 

Police identified and arrested a suspect for making the threats, according to Tucker. Law enforcement did not release a name.  Online jail records indicate 21-year-old Joseph Michael Krause was booked into the Douglas County Jail just before 7p.m. Monday on requested charges of Aggravated criminal threat; Cause terror, evacuation or disruption.

Krause is a red-shirt sophomore offensive lineman from Prairie Village, Kansas, according to the KU football roster.  Authorities have not officially linked Krause to the incident.
