KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City.
Just before 7:30p.m. Thursday patrol officers were dispatched to the 3700 Block of Independence Avenue on the report of someone with a weapon, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
Officers located a victim suffering from bodily trauma. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
At the same time, officers were dispatched to the area of 6th and Monroe on an ambulance en route call. It was determined both of these calls were related. The original incident occurred at 6th and Monroe. This is being investigated as a homicide.
A preliminary investigation revealed the victim to have injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. Responding officers were able to locate several witnesses on scene. Detectives are interviewing those witnesses to determine the events that led up to incident, according to DiMartino.
