SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a suspect for alleged arson.
Just before 9 p.m. August 27, crews from the Topeka Fire Department responded to a fire at 1325 SW Western Avenue, according to department spokesperson Rosie Nichols.
Firefighters found a fire in the front yard of the apartment building and quickly extinguished it before any damage was done to the structure. No injuries were reported from the incident.
Investigators determine the fire was intentionally set. As a result of the investigation, Trentnell O. Morris, 44, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on a warrant and one count of arson. The total estimated loss from the fire was approximately $200.
