LABETTE COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 4p.m. Friday in Labette County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1984 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Michael P. Weimer Jr., 16, Altamont, was southbound on Kiowa Road four miles west and three miles south of Altamont.
The pickup struck the passenger side of a westbound fertilizer spreader driven by Sean R. Merrick, 48, Cherryvale.
Weimer Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to First Call mortuary.
The KHP did not report if Merrick was transported for treatment. Weimer Jr. was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
