SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal shooting have filed criminal charges against Vincent Dean Gonzalez-Rook, in connection to the April homicide of Joseph Hill, according to Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay
Just after 7p.m. April 24, law enforcement were called to 1215 NE Quincy to investigate a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located 26-year-old Joseph Hill suffering from a single gunshot wound. Hill died as a result of his injury. The investigation resulted in the district attorney filing two felony charges against Gonzalez-Rook, Murder in the First Degree, Premeditated and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.
With the assistance of the US Marshalls, Gonzalez-Rook was located and taken into custody in California, according to Kagay.
The DA's office has initiated proceedings to have Gonzalez-Rook transferred back to Topeka for the prosecution of this case.
The Topeka Police Department is handling the investigation of this case.

TOPEKA, Kan. – Law enforcement authorities are investigating a homicide that occurred Friday evening and asking the public for help to locate two persons-of-interest.
Just after 6:30 p.m. Friday, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center began receiving multiple calls about a possible shooting in the 1200 block of NE Quincy Street in Topeka, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Koenen.

At the scene officers located an adult male victim identified as Joseph Hill, 26, of Topeka outside a residence in the area suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police asked community members in the area to review their home security camera footage and are attempting to locate two persons of interest in the homicide.
