BARTON COUNTY —A Kansas man avoided injury Monday after a farm implement became tangled in power lines.

Just after 3p.m., sheriff’s officers and the Claflin Fire Department responded to the 1300 block of Northeast 120 Avenue to a reported agricultural related accident, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir.

Upon arrival emergency responders discovered a tractor and implements operated by Kyle Albers of Ellinwood was entering the field at that location.

One of the implements became entangled in overhead power lines. The driver was unaware of the situation causing a power pole to be pulled over and the tractor and implements entangled in live powerlines.

Fortunately, Albers remained in the cab of the vehicle and did not come in contact with any energized surfaces.

Midwest Energy happened to be working in the area and was able to shut the powerlines off, at which time Albers was able to exit from the cab.  He was trapped in the cab for about 45 minutes, according to Bellendir..
