Police: 20-year-old Kan. man wounded in drive-by shooting

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a drive by shooting.

Just after 7:00 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to a disturbance with weapons at Maple and Mclean in Wichita, according to officer Kevin Wheeler.

Two men in the area led an officer to a shooting victim in a passerby’s vehicle.

The victim was a 20-year-old mn who had a gunshot wound to his right leg.

He was transported by EMS to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

The 20-year-old and two 19-year-old men reported they were walking east along Maple Street when two men in a red four-door vehicle approached them at the intersection of Sycamore and Maple and pointed guns at them.

The victims ran and shots were fired striking the 20-year-old once. He was the only one injured.

Police do not believe this is a random incident and have not reported an arrest.
