Kansas girl rescued after fall from walking trail

MONTGOMERY COUNTY —A girl is recovering after a fall on Wednesday in Montgomery County.

Just before 2p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office responded to the Elk City Lake walking trails after report of a girl who fell roughly 20 to 30 feet down one of the ledges on what is known as the blue trail, according to Sheriff Ron Wade.

Independence EMS along with a Montgomery County Deputies were able to locate the girl and her mother north of the shell beach area of the trail.

EMS, and other rescue personal were able to safely extract the girl back down the trail to the Ambulance. They transported her to Labette ER in Independence.

The sheriff's office released no additional details Wednesday afternoon.
