
SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a string of business burglaries and have made an arrest.
On Friday night, police located 36-year-old Travis L. Russell of Topeka in the 2800 block of SE Topeka Blvd, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Koenen.
Officers brought Russell into the Law Enforcement Center for questioning. As a result of the investigation, Russell was arrested for burglarizing 5 businesses over 9 days including Vern’s Liquor in the 3700 block of SW Gage Blvd, 29th St. Quick Stop in the 3100 block of SW 29th St. and Schendel Lawn and Landscape in the 4700 block of SW 6th Ave. on April 2. Great Life Golf in 900 block of SE 29th St. on April 6. Highland Crest Laundromat in the 400 block of SE 29th St. on April 10.
Russell is being held on the requested charges Criminal use of a financial card, Theft, Burglary, Criminal damage to property and Possession of stolen property, according to Christian.
