Kansas man accused of impersonating a police officer

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect for allegedly impersonating an officer.

Just after 11:30 p.m., Thursday, police were contacted by a citizen in the 9900 block of East Harry in Wichita, according to officer Paul Cruz. 

The citizen reported being approached by a suspect later identified as 27-year-old Daniel Corrieri, who was wearing a vest and identified himself as a Wichita Polce Officer.

Corrieri was driving a white, Hyundai Elantra that was equipped with multi-colored lights, similar to those in emergency vehicles.

Officers located Corrieri at Harrison Park in the 1400 block of South Todd. He was wearing a bullet-proof vest, a law enforcement style duty belt, and was armed with a handgun. 

Officers later recovered a second handgun inside of his vehicle.

Officers conducted a DUI investigation and found Corrieri to be impaired while possessing a firearm. If anyone has been pulled over or contacted by Corrieri please make a report with WPD
