Police found meth in Kansas woman's purse

WICHITA, KAN. – A woman was sentenced to prison Thursday for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Judge Dave Dahl sentenced Sonja May, 38, of Wichita, to 68 months in prison.

In July of 2017, police found the meth in May's purse during a traffic stop in the 1400 block of S. Seneca in Wichita. on July 29.

May was sentenced during a video connection from the Sedgwick County  Jail.

On March 30, prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges and court personnel began handling probation violations, first appearances, and sentencings by video connection.

Prosecutors login from the DA Library on the second floor of the Sedgwick County Courthouse. Defendants are not taken to the Courthouse, and stay in the County Jail during these hearings.

All jury trials and other hearings have been suspended until further notice from the Kansas Supreme Court.
