Kansas woman accused of preventing arrest of a felony suspect

SHAWNEE COUNTY— Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects following a car stop, brief vehicle pursuit and search early Friday.

Just before  2 a.m., a Sheriff’s Office deputy made contact with a 2006 Chrysler 300 near SE Blair Street and SE 25th Street, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

During the investigation, the driver reentered the vehicle and drove away. The deputy chased the suspect who quickly abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The driver was identified as Tyrik A. Akpabio, 27, of Topeka and had multiple felony warrants for his arrest, according to Christian.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Akpabio had connections with a residence in the 2400 block of SE Alamar Road. A search of the residence lead to the location and arrest of Akpabio for three felony warrants and multiple other charges.

Deputies also arrested Dinah J. Koeppen, 57, of Topeka was arrested for obstructing apprehension or prosecution of a felony suspect.

Akpabio and Koeppen were both booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.
