ELLSWORTH COUNTY — One person died in an accident Wednesday in Ellsworth County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Janice A. Perkins, 63, Ellsworth, was northbound on 1st Road nine miles south of Wilson.
The SUV traveled off road to the east. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle slid sideways into the east ditch, rolled and driver was ejected.
The vehicle then rolled up the embankment through a wire fence and came to rest upright in a pasture.
Perkins was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Parsons Funeral Home. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
The time the accident occurred is unknown and still under investigation, according to the KHP.
