SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a stolen car ring and have two of three suspects in custody.
Just after 7a.m. January 9, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a call about a Toyota Tacoma that was stolen in the city of Auburn, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
Sheriff’s deputies, with assistance from the truck owner, were able to locate the truck in the 600 block of SE Lime Street. A Kia Optima, reported stolen out of Jackson County, was also located at that address.
Deputes arrested Rachael R. Ratzloff, 21, of Topeka, on requested charges that included multiple counts of burglary and theft.
Just after 2:30p.m. January 14, deputies arrested another suspect identified as Cody Brown, 22, Topeka, near SE 5th and Lafayette Street after a short foot pursuit, according to Lt. Todd Stallbaumer.
Brown tossed a firearm during the chase. Deputies recovered it later. He is being held on requested charges that include burglary of vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm, felony theft and criminal damage to property.
The investigation and video surveillance identified a third suspect identified as Cheyenne N. Thomas, 23, of Topeka.
The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s assistance in locating her.
