RILEY COUNTY —Slick roads just after 4:30p.m. Friday cause a multi-vehicle crash in Riley County that closed the highway in both directions for a couple of hours.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2000 Nissan Frontier driven by Keaton J. Lind, 22, Everett, WA., was westbound on Kansas 18 eight miles west of Manhattan.

The driver lost control of the vehicle on the icy bridge. The vehicle struck the bridge rails on both sides of the roadway. This caused a chain reaction collision involving ten other vehicles which could not slow or stop due to the icy bridge surface.

The accident included 17 adults and three children.   The KHP reported Shardae Pigue, 32, Manhattan, possibly had a minor injury. EMS did not transport anyone to a local hospital, according to the KHP.
