KANSAS CITY —Authorities have positively identified the remains of two Wisconsin brothers, missing since visiting a farm near Braymer, north of Kansas City in July.
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office reports investigators recovered the remains of Justin and Nicholas Diemel of Shawano County, Wisconsin on Thursday.
Nicholas Diemel’s remains were recovered on a farm in rural Caldwell County. Justin Diemel’s remains were recovered in a livestock trailer in Lincoln County, Nebraska. Authorities used dental records to make a positive identification of both brothers.
Nicholas Diemel was 35. Justin Diemel was 24.
The two brothers, cattle brokers from Wisconsin, drove to the farm of Garland “Joey” Nelson July 21st to pick up a $250,000 check Nelson owed them from a cattle deal. No one had seen them since.

Nelson faces numerous charges in the case, including two counts of murder. He originally was charged with tampering with a motor vehicle after security cameras caught him driving a truck the brothers had rented and parking it in a Holt County commuter parking lot. The keys were left in the ignition.
Nelson is believed to have burned both bodies and mixed the remains in a manure pile.
